I know that this is a common debate that's going around about legalizing cannabis (marijuana) in the U.S. and I'm aware that some states have legalized it. I just found it incredibly interesting a video I watched about cannabinoids receptors that we have in our brain, and it binds naturally to THC. The video explains how it evolved through time and came to be in our brain. This was completely new information to me when I heard it and made me think a bit differently about it, not that I thought negatively, just differently. Maybe it's not as bad as people make it seem.
Then, during my Medical Aspects class, my Professor started to talk about drugs and how damaging they are to our brains. Obviously, the topic of marijuana popped up and several students started sharing stories about how their grandmothers or moms would use it as teas or some sort of ointment to take pain away or numb an area of the body. That's when my professor said that one time, he had horrible pains all over his body due to his disability but the medication given to him was not working so some of his former students offered to give him "herbal tea" from Mexico. I think that it definitely has some benefits to it and then I stumbled with this video that says it can actually cure some types of cancer by making the cells kill themselves or "commit suicide". This is an excerpt from a documentary:

It seems that now the idea of legalizing Marijuana has become a popular topic. I see it all over the news about the drug being legal in other countries and even a couple of states here in the U.S. I have also heard stories about the great properties of Marijuana. Such as a story that claims submerging a small quantity of the drug in rubbing alcohol to alleviate soreness. I also think it would be great if Marijuana could cure something as terrible as cancer but I don’t think there is yet enough evidence to support this argument.
ReplyDeleteI never been a true believer of people using drugs to get high or doing it to feed a habit they have accumulated in time, but I am all hands on deck if something like this could help people cure cancer or help them ease the pain. Who ever knew that something this is could actually be the secret to many diseases that could help people in the longer term effect. I also have heard stories from the older generation that they would not do it as a habit or to feed a need but they would use it to help pains and get some relief. They would drink it as a tea or smoke and I have even herd stories were people I would make it into a type of ointment that could be stored and used to rub on the body for aches and pains. I believe that they should allow people to use the product but have it controlled so that they are only using it to benefit them and not as a habit or for a high.
